Dan Short joined Heartland Bank and Trust Company in April of 2021 as a commercial lender. Prior to joining Heartland Bank, he spent a number of years as a financial analyst in the Des Moines area and in the credit analysis department at a local bank. It was during the pandemic that Dan was able to directly assist customers with the PPP loan program which fueled his passion for helping businesses and started his path toward commercial lending.
Dan graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2009 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Dan has a drive to learn and in 2015 completed his Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa. In 2022, Dan also received the honors of finishing in the 10% of his class at the Iowa Banker’s Association Commercial Lending School. Outside of the office, Dan volunteers with Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa and is currently teaching 6th grade students at a local Coralville elementary school the importance of financial literacy.
Dan and his wife, Mary, reside in North Liberty with their two daughters. Dan is an avid baseball fan who enjoys consuming any televised sporting event and playing board games with friends and family.
