About Kody

Bio

Kody Smith, assistant vice president and farm manager, joined Heartland Bank and Trust Company in 2021 and has over three years of farm management experience. Kody actively manages over 81 farms, totaling more than 16,450 acres. Kody assists clients with their farm assets to meet their objectives under cash rent, custom and crop-share lease arrangements. He relies on his previous experience in the crop insurance industry to help guide clients toward the best policy for their farm.

Kody earned his Bachelor of Science in agricultural business management from Illinois State University. He is also a licensed real estate broker in Illinois and is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensed drone pilot. Kody is actively involved in the community with Illinois High School Association (IHSA) varsity basketball and baseball officiating. During the summer months he oversees Gibson City’s youth baseball and softball officials.

Kody is a resident of Gibson City where he lives with his wife, Bayleigh, and daughter, Adileigh. In his spare time, he enjoys high school sports and contributes to the family farm by renting 293 acres of crop land, where he makes the agronomic decisions for his acres, and operates the farm equipment on both his field and the rest of the family’s operation.
