Karen Hanson, Vice President, Wealth Advisor, and Central Region Wealth Management Team Leader, has over 45 years of experience in banking with the last 30+ years in wealth management. She delivers solutions that include IRAs, investment agency accounts for individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations as well as revocable and irrevocable trusts. Karen was employed by Citizens First National Bank from 1974 to 2008 when she joined Busey Wealth Management upon relocating to Bloomington, Illinois. Karen joined Heartland Bank and Trust Company in 2013.
Karen has a BS in English Education from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She is a graduate of the Illinois Bankers Association Trust School and the American Bankers Association National Trust Graduate School. Karen has held the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification for more than 20 years; she maintains her certification by participating in continuing education courses, including the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Estate Planning Short Course.
Karen is an active participant in community organizations, having served as Vice President of the Bureau County Day Care Center (now Zearing Child Enrichment Center) board, President of the Princeton Chamber Ambassadors, and Chairman of the Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation Board. Karen was named 2011 McLean County Chamber Ambassador of the Year. She is currently a member of Bloomington-Normal Sunrise Rotary (BNSR), and a member of the BNSR Foundation board. She is also a volunteer on various committees for the American Red Cross of the Heartland. In addition, Karen is Treasurer of Promise Council of Bloomington-Normal. She actively participates in the Women to Women Fund of Illinois Prairie Community Foundation and is a founding member of Starved Rock Country Community Foundation Women Inspired Network as well.
