Bio

Kim leads the Wealth Management division which includes Asset Management and Trust Services, Agricultural Services, and HBT Investment Services. He has 21 years of banking experience, with 14 in wealth management.  Prior to the acquisition by Heartland Bank, Kim served as department head for Citizens Financial Advisors, the wealth management group of Citizens First National Bank. His management experience includes Wealth Management Group Market Manager at Riverside Community Bank, Managing Director and Market Manager for JPMorgan Private Client Services in Chicago, and Manager of Wealth Management at AMCORE Bank. 

Kim holds an MBA with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a B.S. in Business Administration (Finance) from San Francisco State University, and a diploma from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Throughout his career, Kim has been active in his community serving numerous not-for-profit organizations. He currently serves on the board of directors of the McLean County United Way.   Kim received the 1999 Business-Education Partnership Award and was the co-recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Citizen Award from the Belvidere (IL) Chamber of Commerce.

Barb has over 35 years of experience in Trust and Estate Administration.  She has been with Heartland for 12 years and is a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor.  Barb worked at Commerce Bank and its predecessors from 1975 until 2002. She has worked in a variety of areas in Asset Management and Trust Services including Estate Settlement, Trusts, and Guardianships.

Barb is a Graduate of Illinois Bankers Trust School and holds a B.S. from Illinois State University. 

Barb has been an active Board member with the Daughters of the American Revolution, Leticia-Green Stevenson Chapter.  She has held various positions, including President, of Soroptimist International of Bloomington- Normal and has been a member for 26 years.  She helped start the Lincoln’s Festival in Bloomington and has served as a Director for the past 6 years.

Linda has been in banking and wealth management for 26 years with 25 years experience in wealth management. She administers numerous account types such as IRAs, revocable and irrevocable trusts, estate settlement, and investment management agency accounts for individuals and charitable organizations. Linda served as assistant to the Regional VP of Commercial Lending at Champion Federal S&L in Bloomington from 1989-1990. She then joined the trust department at Citizens First National Bank, where she served in various roles (including Vice President and Senior Wealth Advisor and Chief Fiduciary Officer). Citizens was acquired by Heartland Bank and Trust Company in 2012, and Linda now serves in Heartland Bank’s Asset Management and Trust Services department as a vice president, wealth advisor, and trust officer.

Linda earned a B.S. from Illinois Wesleyan University and has completed Cannon Trust Schools I, II, and III. She has attended various trust and employee benefit-related seminars and conferences offered by organizations, including the IBA and ABA.

Linda previously served as Elder in the Presbyterian Church (Princeton), Trustee and Treasurer of the Illinois Valley Community College Foundation, and Trustee and President of the Owen Lovejoy Homestead, a National Historic Landmark in Princeton, IL.

Tom has over 15 years of banking and wealth management experience at Heartland Bank and Trust Company in addition to 13 years as Farm Business Farm Management Fieldman. He administers a variety of account types that include revocable and irrevocable trusts, agency accounts for individuals, IRAs and retirement accounts. Tom’s specialty is farm accounts as he manages farms in 8 counties in Illinois and oversees IRA’s and retirement accounts that own farmland.  

Tom is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a degree in Agriculture Education.  

Active in the El Paso community, Tom serves as treasurer of the El Paso Kiwanis Club, is active in his church and was co-chairman of the capital campaign committee for the El Paso Public Library expansion project.

Karen has over 40 years of experience in banking with the last 25+ years in wealth management. She administers a variety account types that include IRAs, investment agency accounts for individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations as well as revocable and irrevocable trusts. Karen was employed by Citizens First National Bank from 1974 to 2008 when she joined Busey Wealth Management upon relocating to Bloomington, Illinois. Karen joined Heartland Bank and Trust Company in 2013.

Karen has a B.S. in English Education from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois.  She is a graduate of the Illinois Bankers Association Trust School and the American Bankers Association National Trust Graduate School.  Karen has held the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification for more than 20 years; she maintains her certification by participating in continuing education courses, including the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Estate Planning Short Course. 

Karen is an active participant in community organizations, having served as Vice President of the Bureau County Day Care Center (now Zearing Child Enrichment Center) board, President of the Princeton Chamber Ambassadors, and Chairman of the Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation Board.  Karen was named 2011 McLean County Chamber Ambassador of the Year.  She is currently a member of Bloomington - Normal Sunrise Rotary Foundation board. She also serves as the regional co-chair of Community Outreach for American Red Cross of the Heartland.

Todd has over 25 years of experience in investments and retirement plan services. He focuses on business retirement plans including profit sharing, 401(k) plans and SIMPLE IRA’s. Todd started his career as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch in Peoria, Illinois.  He joined Alliance Benefit Group of Illinois (also in Peoria), a third-party plan administrator where he was vice president of retirement plan services. He has also worked as Plan consultant for Country Financial in Bloomington and for the Trust Company of Illinois in Downers Grove, Illinois.  Todd joined the AMTS team at Heartland Bank and Trust Company in 2013 where he heads up the Retirement Plan Services area.

Todd has a B.S in Business from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois.  He recently obtained his M.B.A. in Business from Illinois State University, concentrating in investments and financial planning. He has earned his Qualified Plan Financial Consultant Designation from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA).  At present, Todd is enrolled in the College of Financial Planning in pursuit of the Certified Financial Planner designation.

Todd is an active member of his local church and is a community volunteer.  He resides in Washington, Illinois where he and his wife J.C. spend their time enjoying the great outdoors.

Tom has 33 years experience in banking and wealth management including farm management, charitable organizations, revocable and irrevocable trust, life insurance trusts, and like kind exchange trusts.  In additions to his wealth management duties, Tom has extensive experience in agricultural and commercial lending.  Prior to the merger of Bank of Chenoa into Heartland Bank and Trust, Tom served as the President of Bank of Chenoa. 

Tom graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Agri-Business from Illinois State University and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He is an Accredited Farm Manager by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and a Certified Crop Adviser by the American Society of Agronomy.

A community active individual, he has served in a variety of capacities including church boards and the local school board.  Currently, he serves as Treasurer on the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community board and Prairie Central Cooperative board of directors, both in Chenoa.  In addition, he serves on the OSF St. James Hospital Foundation board in Pontiac.   He was named Chenoan of the Year in 1999 and the Outstanding Agri-Business Person in McLean County in 2011.

Gregg is an active volunteer in the community and is currently President of Evergreen Racquet Club, Treasurer of the Bloomington-Normal Tennis Association, and a member of the Bloomington Kiwanis Club where he currently serves as chairman of the Bloomington Kiwanis Club Foundation Committee.

Rob has over 10 years of banking and investment experience.  Prior to the acquisition by Heartland Bank, he was the Investment Officer for Citizens Trust & Investment Group.  Rob was previously a Portfolio Manager for US Bank’s Private Client Group in Rochester, Minnesota. 

Rob holds an MBA in Finance from North Dakota State University and a B.S. in Finance from Minnesota State University Moorhead.  Rob is a Level 2 candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is responsible for over $250 million in investment assets.

Rob has guided numerous community organizations in formulating investment policies and strategies and serves on the Investment Committee of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, a not-for-profit organization with more than $9 million in assets.

Marty joined Heartland Bank and Trust in July 2014.  She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive and is active in the Central Illinois Planned Giving Council.  In her 11 years as the Executive Director of the Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation in Lincoln, Ahrends assisted donors with charitable giving that incorporated financial planning and oversaw growth of an endowment to $20 million.

Marty recently completed her MBA at the University of Missouri Trulaske College of Business, and she holds B.S degrees in Agricultural Journalism and Agricultural Economics from Missouri.  She is a graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute Trust Schools I and II, and the Illinois Agriculture Leadership Program Class of 2002. 

Marty is a 20-year Rotary member of the Lincoln and Bloomington Rotary Clubs. She is a Paul Harris Fellow, past president, and currently serves as the investment officer of the Bloomington Rotary Foundation.  She has devoted countless volunteer hours as a speech coach, Sunday school teacher, fine art fair coordinator and 4-H club leader in Logan County. Nathan joined Heartland Bank and Trust in October 2014.  Prior to joining Heartland, he worked as an investment and compliance analyst for an independent advisory firm in Moline, Illinois that specialized in serving high net worth clients and foundations.  During his tenure, he passed the Series 65 Uniform Investment Advisor Law Examination.  From 2005 until 2011, Nathan was a general practice attorney in his hometown of Canton, Illinois.  During his career as an attorney, he represented numerous local banks, municipalities, and business organizations, as well as assisting clients in estate planning and real estate. 

Nathan was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Illinois in 2005 after earning his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Northern Illinois University College of Law that same year.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2001, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the International History Honor Society.

Nathan previously served as a board member on the Spoon River Partnership for Economic Development, including serving as Chair of the small business loan committee. He is a new homeowner in Bloomington, and is also currently a member of the McLean County Bar Association.
