Several customers have reported receiving fraudulent text messages with a message indicating that Heartland Bank is issuing a check against the customer’s account. The customer is directed to call an “866” phone number. These are fraudulent text messages sent by criminals in an attempt to entice customers to give personal information over the phone. These text messages are not coming from Heartland Bank and Trust Company. If you should receive a text message, DO NOT respond to the text or call the 866 phone number. It is recommended that you delete the text without responding. This text message fraud attempt may be reported to your local Heartland Bank office or the FDIC at email@example.com.
