Fraudulent Phone Calls Regarding Social Security Direct Deposit

(Updated 10/4/13)

Heartland Bank has received several reports about fraudulent phone calls. The caller states the recent government shutdown will affect direct deposit of their Social Security check unless their bank information and social security number are confirmed during the phone conversation.

This is a scam. The call is not initiated by the government or Heartland Bank. It is an attempt to obtain personal information from consumers to fraudulently transfer money out of customer bank accounts. Hang up and contact your local law enforcement and Heartland Bank if you have any concerns about your bank account.
