Customers have reported receiving fraudulent emails sent from what appears to be a Heartland Bank Customer Care Center email address (email@example.com), with the subject line "Heartland Bank Online Alert Notice". These are "Phishing," or fraudulent emails sent by cyber criminals in an attempt to entice customers to click on an embedded Online Banking access link and obtain personal information. These emails are not coming from Heartland Bank and Trust Company. If you should receive an email, DO NOT click on the link, or install software updates. It is recommended that you delete the email without opening. Phishing attempts may be reported to your local Heartland Bank office or the FDIC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
