With average life expectancy climbing, inflation fluctuating, and health care costs increasing, ensuring a comfortable retirement requires careful planning.
Whether your retirement is decades away or fast approaching, the Asset Management and Trust Services team at Heartland Bank and Trust Company can help. We offer an assortment of self-directed personal and employer-sponsored retirement plans to choose from:
Traditional IRA
A Traditional IRA can be an effective planning vehicle, allowing your before-tax contributions to grow tax-deferred until retirement. And additional “catch-up” contributions are allowed if you are age 50 or better! Ask us about limits that might be applicable to your situation.
Roth IRA
Another IRA option, Roth IRA contributions are not deductible, but are not taxed when distributed. If you've had your Roth IRA for at least five years, withdrawals of earnings are also tax free if you are at least age 59 ½! And for those 50 years of age or better, additional “catch –up” contributions are allowed to help you compensate for savings opportunities you may have missed earlier in life.
Rollover IRA
If you participate in an employer-sponsored plan, as you near retirement or change employers, you will need to decide how to handle those funds. Consider rolling your retirement funds into a Heartland Bank and Trust Company IRA, ensuring that your money will continue to grow on a tax-deferred basis.
SEP Plan
A SEP is a retirement plan available to self-employed individuals. As an employer, you contribute to IRAs set up for yourself and your eligible employees. You, as employer, receive the benefit of tax-deductible contributions, and your employees receive the benefit of tax-deferred earnings!
Simple IRA Plan
Another type of plan for self-employed individuals or those with a small business is the Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees, or SIMPLE. Under a SIMPLE plan, employees may choose to make salary reduction contributions and you, as employer, make matching contributions to IRAs set up for yourself and each participating employee.
If you are an employer, we can work with you and your Plan Administrator, serving as Investment Manager for your Retirement Plan. Our highly qualified department can assist as Investment Manager for the following plan types:
401K Plan, Profit Sharing Plan & Defined Benefit Plan
