Heartland Bank and Trust Company also offers the following services:

Cash Management

Do you have a business checking account with us?  Build on this relationship by opening an investment account to hold your funds in excess of $100,000.00.  Let Heartland Bank be responsible for monitoring the balance in your business checking as well as initiating transfers between the two accounts as needed.  We offer five different money market vehicles from which to choose.  Ask us how to set up a cash management account today!

Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust

A Life Insurance Trust is a trust set up for the purpose of owning a life insurance policy, allowing you to remove a significant asset from your estate.  A life insurance trust can reduce estate taxes, as the insurance proceeds are not included in your estate for federal estate tax purposes.

Coverdell Education Savings Account

Tuition costs are always increasing, making it harder to plan and save for your family’s education expenses.  Formerly known as the Education IRA, the Coverdell Education Savings Account enables you to establish a college savings plan that will grow tax-deferred for your designated beneficiary. Currently, a maximum of $2,000 may be contributed annually, according to income eligibility guidelines.  Please call our Asset Management and Trust Services Department to begin saving for one of the most important phases of your family’s life!

Land Trust

A land trust is a simple, inexpensive method for handling the ownership of real estate.  As Trustee, Heartland Bank and Trust holds the recorded title to the real estate, and as beneficial owner, you continue to maintain all of the rights and conveniences of ownership without your interest being disclosed.

1031 Exchange

Our Asset Management and Trust Services department also offers a 1031 Exchange or Like-Kind Exchange.  Named for the section of the IRS Code which makes this transaction possible, a 1031 Exchange allows a seller to reinvest the proceeds of  a sale in a like property, thereby deferring capital gains taxes.  If you have a highly appreciated property to sell, contact one of our Trust Officers to find out how you might benefit from a 1031 Exchange.
